This spontaneous, collective reaction at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) headquarters to Prime Minister Lawrence Wong’s National Day Rally (NDR) announcement on Aug 18 that parents here will soon get an additional 10 weeks of paid parental leave spoke to the surprise of many Singaporeans at how far the Government would go to spur more here to have children.
