This was one of the guns that was given by Xijinping to Duterte, used in Marawi War. Duterte said this gift from China ended the 5 month war in Marawi because in that one morning without wind, this sniper rifle shot dead ISIS rebel commander Isilon Hapilon from 1000m.

Now Duterte returned this gun to China, as Li Ke Qiang was visiting Manila. Duterte said: China helped us when help was most needed, and you instantly provided help as we called for help. Your weapon had shorten our Marawi War. I sent this gun back to China in appreciation, as it is a significant presentation of result achieved by your great help.

“One of the rifles you gave us killed Hapilon,” Duterte tells Chinese Premier; thanks China for helping end Marawi war

(Eagle News) – President Rodrigo Duterte expressed his sincere appreciation for the timely help given by China in the Philippines’ fight against terrorism, saying one of the rifles donated by China was the one that had been used to kill ISIS Southeast Asia emir Isnilon Hapilon.

At the opening of the bilateral talks with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang in Malacanang, Duterte asked the Chinese Prime Minister to relay his message of gratitude and “warm feelings” to Chinese President Xi Jinping for his help and friendship.

In turn, Premier Li commended Duterte for his successful ASEAN chairmanship and vowed to give more help to the Philippines, especially in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of war-torn Marawi City, as he relayed China’s belief in the sincerity and leadership of Duterte.

Duterte told Li: “We are gratified for the so many things you have done so far. You have proven to be a good friend of the Philippines. And we look forward to a more robust, a more productive relationship in the days to come.”

“Let me also assure you that during the most critical stage of the Marawi incident when we needed help badly it was China who responded immediately for our cry for help. And the arms that you gave us helped abbreviate, shorten the military fight there.”

“I am happy to report to you that one of the rifles you gave us killed Hapilon,” he added.

Duterte told Li that he will look for the “soldier who fired the fatal shot” and that he is going to return the rifle to China, “so that the Chinese people would know that it was a symbol of the critical help” of China to the Filipino people “when there was nobody who helped us at that time.”

-China’s Li expresses admiration for Duterte

For his part, Chinese Premier Li, who is on his first ever trip to the Philippines, assured Duterte of China’s continued friendship, and also commended Duterte for the very successful hosting of the ASEAN Summit.

Li forwarded the greetings of the Chinese president to Duterte.

He thanked President Duterte for the “thoughtful arrangements” the Philippines had done for the Chinese delegation.

The Chinese Premier also commended and congratulated Duterte for the very successful hosting of the 31st ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, and for steering ASEAN to a more powerful position during the Philippines’ chairmanship of the region.

“All the meetings have been very successful, in particular the China-ASEAN dialogue. The China-ASEAN Summit has been very successful.

“The Philippines has played a leadership role and a crucial role in ensuring the success of the meetings,” he said.

“The Chinese side highly appreciates your efforts.”

Premier Li also said that the two nations have a long history of “friendly exchanges” based on “mutual support and mutual benefit.”

-Li: “Helping the Philippines is helping ourselves”

We are now working together to strengthen the momentum of China-Philippine relations, and try to make up for the time and the good opportunities we missed in the past,” Li said, apparently referring to previously sour ties of China and the Philippines during the Aquino administration.

Li said China would be accelerating the implementation of their projects.

The Chinese Premier also commended the Philippines for its fight against terrorism, and vowed that China, like the other nations, will be firmly supporting the fight against terrorism in all forms.

“Your victory on the fight against terrorism is the result of your own efforts,” he told Duterte.

“We highly appreciate the courage and the wisdom demonstrated by the Philippine government in the fight against terrorism,” he said.

He said China will also be helping the Philippines in the “post-war reconstruction of Marawi City,” as well as the improvement of the livelihood of the people there.

“Helping the Philippines is helping ourselves,” Li said.

The Chinese Premier is on a five-day official visit to the country which includes his attendance to the crucial 31st Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit and related Summits which the Philippines hosted on the ASEAN’s 50th year.

This is the first visit of a Chinese Premier in the past 10 years.

Duterte fires rifle toward IS-linked militants during Marawi visit

President Rodrigo Duterte fired a rifle toward Islamic State-linked militants during a visit Thursday to the battle zone in southern Marawi, after troops recaptured a main mosque where the gunmen had taken cover with their hostages in the three-month siege of the city, officials said.

Clad in a combat uniform, protective vest and helmet, Duterte congratulated the troops for regaining control of the Islamic Center, an indication they are entering the final stage in ending the disastrous uprising. It was Duterte’s third known trip to the embattled city.

During his brief visit, Duterte inspected a devastated community near the frontline and talked to troops guarding a recaptured building. He also visited a military patrol base and “tried a sniper rifle and fired twice toward the direction of the terrorists,” a government statement said.

Army Col. Romeo Brawner said Duterte went to the main battle area, a cluster of dense, mosque-dotted communities which has been heavily damaged in the fighting, with military chief Gen. Eduardo Ano and top commanders.

More than 760 people, including 595 militants, have died in the Marawi fighting, which has sparked concerns that the Islamic State group may have taken a foothold in Southeast Asia through local extremists as it suffers battle setbacks in Syria and Iraq.

About 600 gunmen launched the insurrection in Marawi’s commercial center on May 23 after a botched army raid to capture the group’s leader, Isnilon Hapilon, according to the military.

The United States and Australia have deployed surveillance aircraft to help Filipino troops locate the hundreds of militants who took positions in buildings, mosques and houses, some of them linked by underground tunnels. China provided heavy weaponry and Southeast Asian governments offered aid for troops and the hundreds of thousands of displaced residents.

It was not immediately clear if any militants or their hostages were in the mosque when troops entered the building Thursday after weeks of painstakingly slow advances because of sniper fire and an order from Duterte to avoid any massive attack that might harm an estimated several dozen hostages, including a Roman Catholic priest, used by the gunmen as human shields.

Brawner said the militants withdrew shortly before troops gained access to the mosque in fighting that wounded three soldiers. He said the gunmen had rigged the building with booby-traps and explosives which were being cleared by the troops.

“We recovered the mosque after some resistance but not through an assault with bombardment because we wanted to preserve the structure,” Brawner said.

The military says about 40 gunmen are still fighting in the main battle zone, now confined to a smaller cluster of communities after troops backed by airstrikes and artillery fire recaptured key bridges and crossed over a river toward the main militant position.

Some residents have started to return to neighborhoods declared safe by the military. Classes at the main Mindanao State University reopened Tuesday, although a clash between government forces and gunmen allied with the militants in nearby Marantao town, outside the city, underscored the remaining danger.

Duterte declared martial law in the largely Roman Catholic archipelago’s southern third until the end of the year to deal with the Marawi crisis and prevent other armed groups from reinforcing the militants or launching similar uprisings elsewhere in the volatile region./ac

The small shipment of assault and sniper rifles and ammunition is the first example of Chinese military aid since Duterte threatened to move away from Manila’s traditional ally America and seek Beijing’s support.

The weapons shipment, worth some 50 million yuan (US$7.35 million) “highlights the dawn of a new era in Philippine-Chinese relations”, Duterte said.

China has also donated 15 million pesos (US $300,000) in relief assistance to help Marawi recover.

Hours earlier Wednesday, the military said they had found the bodies of 17 civilians killed by the Islamists, self-styled followers of the Islamic State movement (IS) who have besieged the city of Marawi since May 23.

Philippine troops, backed by airstrikes and artillery, have battled for over a month to drive the extremists out of Marawi but the militants have fought back.

Nearly 400 people have been killed, including 290 militants and 70 troops, according to official figures. Most of Marawi’s 200,000 residents have fled and much of the city is in ruins.
“We are almost on bended knees sometimes because of lack of equipment. It is a good thing we have a good friend like China who is very understanding,” Duterte said.

Duterte has been reluctant to acknowledge American help, saying recently that he had no knowledge about US technical assistance to the troops fighting in Marawi.

The Philippines, which has a mutual defence treaty with the United States, has long relied on US-supplied arms.

But in a swipe at America - which has criticised his flagship war on drugs - Duterte has said he will seek more weapons from China and Russia.

Still, earlier this month the US gave the Philippines new weapons after Duterte complained of receiving “second hand” military equipment.

Chinese ambassador Zhao Jianhua, who formally handed over the weapons, said a “second batch” of weapons would soon be delivered.

“The donation is not big but it is big in the sense that it marks a new era in relations between our two militaries,” the ambassador said.

“The Chinese side would like to explore the possibility of joint training, intelligence sharing and joint military exercises in the area of fighting terrorism,” he added.

Duterte, who had declared martial law in the southern Philippines due to the Marawi siege, said he would not lift it until the military and police said conditions were safe.

The president assured troops on Wednesday that he would protect them from any legal action if they accidently killed civilians while battling militants.

Duterte said in a televised speech that troops don’t intend to kill civilians, but they should “not hesitate to engage just because there are civilians. It is the duty of the civilians to flee or seek cover.”

He assured the troops that he would fight to keep them out of prison for accidental deaths.

“We will face charges, sometimes massacre, you know a bullet hits through and through, one squeeze of the Armalite (rifle), it bursts out about three, four. Keep on pressing it,” Duterte said.

a2189314-5c7b-11e7-98d7-232f56a99798_1320x770_120240.JPG

“And my orders to you, if he carries a gun, he is not a soldier, he is not a policeman, just kill him. That is my order, because they will kill us.”

The unprecedented militant siege in Marawi has sparked fears that the Islamic State group is tapping into Muslim unrest in the southern Philippines to carve out a foothold in Southeast Asia. The U.S. military deployed a P3 Orion surveillance aircraft to Marawi at the request of the Philippine military. Australia also plans to deploy two military surveillance planes.

Duterte is damn smart.

He gave back that one rifle to 1B1R China, and for that Ah Tiong will easily give him yet another load of weapons, easily 10K rifle, as the previous 1st batch was 22K rifles.

Damn good advertisement value for Ah Tiong arms export. Now Norinco will up their sniper rifle price tag 20% still gets orders like hot cake!

MARAWI BATTLE: SNIPER RIFLES FROM CHINA USED IN KILLING HAPILON, MAUTE - PRES DUTERTE
Last Updated: 2017-10-19

MANILA, Oct 19 (NNN-AGENCIES) -- The sniper rifles donated by China were used to kill the top two terror suspects in Marawi City, President Rodrigo Duterte has revealed.

The President thanked both China and Russia for the military assistance given to the Philippine military to enhance its anti-terrorism capability.

“China has delivered to us twice. Their sniper [rifles] were a great help. Those were used to neutralize the two suspects early morning (of Monday),” he said, referring to terror suspects Isnilon Hapilon and Omar Maute killed by troops on Monday.

Duterte, who earlier declared the liberation of Marawi from terrorists, claimed that sniper weapon could make a kill shot at one kilometer.

“There was no wind every morning so we used that rifle. It was a great help,” he said.

During June, China donated more than 3,000 sniper and assault rifles to the Philippine military to help fight militants in Mindanao.

The President said the weapon shipment highlighted the improved relations between the Philippines and China.

Recently, he announced that Russia is expected to give weapons and equipment to the Philippine military later this month.

He said Russia would give 5,000 Kalashnikov assault rifles to the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), a military assistance offered during his brief visit to Moscow in May. At least 20 military trucks would also be donated by Russia to the AFP.

“The weapons from Russia have arrived – the AK-47 – and they cost us nothing,” Duterte said. -- NNN-AGENCIES

How Maute, Hapilon died in one of last Marawi gunfights

LANAO DEL SUR (Updated 4:23 p.m.) — Terrorist leaders Isnilon Hapilon of the Abu Sayyaf and Maute group figurehead Omar Maute were killed by sniper fire before dawn in Marawi on Monday, four months after the two led armed militants in laying siege on the southern Islamic city.

Military sources said the Islamic State-affiliated duo and their followers were among more than a dozen gunmen killed in gunfights where Scout Rangers used remote-controlled devices to pinpoint their exact locations.

Hapilon and Maute were felled one after another by snipers using long-range rifles fitted with night-vision scopes. Maute was killed with a headshot, while Hapilon died from a bullet in his chest.

Armed Forces chief Eduardo Año said at a news conference that the two terrorist leaders were dashing from one building to another during a final assault by the military. The gun battle lasted from 2 a.m. to 6 a.m., concluding the months-long pursuit for the two notorious radicals.

Maute and Hapilon's remains were found in separate locations by pursuing combatants of the Army's 8th Scout Ranger Company, according to senior members of the League of Mayors in Lanao del Sur and incumbent officials of the provincial government.

Año said the corpses were positively identified by some of the slain militants' relatives as well as by members of the Maute group who have earlier surrendered.

Their deaths are seen as signaling the end of the months-long standoff between extremist militants and state forces that led to one of the worst humanitarian and security crises in recent years.

READ: Hapilon, Maute deaths imply end of Marawi conflict

The STAR received text messages from relatives of Hapilon in the adjoining Maluso and Lantawan towns confirming his death.

"Wafat neh Sir. Sure ne teed," a cousin said in Yakan dialect via a text message, which translates to "Hapilon is dead. The clan is sure about it."

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said a top Malaysian militant, Mahmud bin Ahmad, who uses the nom de guerre Abu Handzalah and is a close associate of Hapilon, has not been found and was among the remaining militants being hunted by troops.

Military leaders had said last month that three leaders of the militants who began the siege of the lakeside city on May 23 were killed in the months of fighting but the two still alive were leading a final stand.

Among the last batch of surviving fighters were about 10 foreigners, mostly Malaysians and Indonesians, but there were no immediate word about their condition, the military said.

The U.S. State Department has offered a reward of up to $5 million for Hapilon, whom Washington blames for ransom kidnappings of several Americans, one of whom was beheaded in 2001 in southern Basilan province. Hapilon had been indicted in the District of Columbia for his alleged involvement in terrorist acts against U.S. nationals and other foreigners.

More than 1,000 people have been killed in the Marawi violence, including more than 800 militants. Army Col. Romeo Brawner said Sunday about 40 militants were still fighting in a small hilly residential area by Lanao Lake, including 100 relatives of the gunmen and civilian hostages. — with reports from the Associated Press and Camille Diola

Damn good advertisement value for Ah Tiong arms export. Now Norinco will up their sniper rifle price tag 20% still gets orders like hot cake!

Distasteful marketing gimmicks. In sniper training, it is about the soldier.
Honour the soldier, Honour the sniper, not the weapon.

Nikolay Yakovlevich Ilyin - 494 kills

During Zaytsev's career as a sniper, he concealed himself in various locations – for example, on high ground, under rubble, or in water pipes. After a few kills, he changed his position. Together with his partner Nikolai Kulikov, Zaytsev exercised his hide and sting tactics. One of Zaytsev’s common tactics was to cover one large area from three positions, with two men at each point – a sniper and a scout.

It is the gun in this case.

There was youtube video I saw a young girl reporter (gun trained but not any sniper standard) and on camera 1st time using this gun.

She shot away 2 empty cartridge standing shells 1 @shot each! Her 1st 2 shot with this gun! No miss! @100m
This gun is super precision. China gave 90 of them to Duterte with 800K rounds ammos. The gun each @RMB260K! The ammo all 100% precision hand made using precision tools slowly by extra good gunsmith craftsmanship. There is actually a very limited stock available of this ammo.

I can further tell you that now already, and definitely in the near future even more so, that BEST MILITARY SNIPERS are ROBOTS. They are PERFECT. There is also remote controlled sniper machines. No need to give a sniper a medal, only supply body-bags to collect the enemy corpses .
