$1,000 fine for trespass
By Elena Chong, Court Correspondent
A MAN was fined $1,000 on Wednesday for criminal trespass at the Subordinate Courts' magistrate's chambers.
Heng Huang Kwang, 28, admitted to remaining unlawfully at the chambers with intent to cause annoyance to an interpreter on Nov 28 last year.
A court heard that earlier in July he had lodged a police report against his friend for threatening to embarrass him at his workplace.
He subsequently filed a magistrate's complaint.
When he appeared before a judge in chambers on Nov 28, he was told that no police action would be taken against his friend, and that if he wished to pursue the matter, he should consult his own lawyer.
Not satisfied with the police investigation, Heng continued asking the judge on the police decision.
He was again told to take up civil action but he refused to accept the explanation.
After the judge had left the chambers, he continued to sit on a chair, claiming that his case was not finished.
He could have been jailed for up to three months and/or fined up to $1,500 for trespass.
