Drunken Singapore parliament should stop encouraging drink driving on roads.
Just read the ST report, what do you think?
Is it because many parliamentarians also drink drive, that's why victims of drunk drivers are incentivised NOT to call the police? Just in case some parliamentarians get caught?
Why don't the drink driver's insurance immediately, without hesitation pay for ALL the victims damage but limit it to body injury only? What happens if the victim has only 3rd party insurance, so he must become an accomplice of driving under intoxication in order to avoid footing out of pocket, his own vehicle repair costs?
What kind of drunken legislature enacted this kind of reckless, absurd and socially damaging laws to promote criminal activity instead. Are majority of these members of the Singapore Parliament drunk drivers themselves?

Shouldn't vehicles involved in drunk driving accidents in fact be confiscated, or if fact, at the minimum impounded as $ collateral, until the victim's damages are fully paid up? Shouldn't the licenses of drunk drivers be immediately suspended as well?
It is totally absurd that we have corrupted parliamentarians and law makers , who write laws to encourage victims to become accessories who protect criminals from police investigations in their anti-social criminal endeavours.

Honest and responsible parliamentarians should in fact enact laws to make victims and onlookers call the police and detain such drunk drivers onsite. Socially responsible members of the public should receive public spirited award medals and gift vouchers and courts awarding damages to victims of drunk driving cases should be awarded punitive damages as well.

It is indeed a sign of debauchery and lawlessness where we live in a society which protects the criminal drunk drivers instead.

Singapore is an oxymoron. We hang drug traffickers to make ourselves look saintly, yet we place drunk drivers who kill innocent victims on the pedestal. They don't have to compensate for any property damages and we shouldn't call the cops, cos the victims receive significant financial incentives (full property compensation Vs none) for being an accomplice to crime (by shielding criminals from the police).
Singapore is an oxymoron, where people carrying innocent placards get arrested, detained and subsequently imprisoned, but drunk drivers are protected from the police and also continue to drive, even if they have actually been caught red handed having done so (driving licenses are valid until the court case is finally heard and decided according to ST report). https://www.republicworld.com/amp/w...lding-smiley-sign-outside-police-station.html
Too much free alcohol on tap, served during parliament sessions and cabinet meetings perhaps....

=======================

Victims of drink driving, who are fortunate enough to walk away from the accidents, say they have to deal with the aftermath.
...
In 2018, Francis (not his real name), 38, was on his way to work as an emergency nurse at Sengkang General Hospital when the van he was driving was hit by a car from behind. He called the police as the driver reeked of alcohol. The man was later arrested.
Francis said: “A lot of people were asking me why I reported the incident. Because once you report them, and they are guilty of drink driving, their insurer will not be liable to cover for them.”

Francis said he covered the damages to his own vehicle, which amounted to around $13,000. The offender, meanwhile, was let off with a stern warning for the offence of drink driving, according to documents seen by ST.
“I was looking through forums in Singapore and realised there’s a large community of people who have been in the same situation, and did not report the accident because they would rather claim the damages from the drunk driver,” he said.
