Police killed a suspected drug dealer and seized more than 1.5 million methamphetamine pills with a street value of over 450 million baht in Bangkok yesterday morning.
The drugs were found in Busarin housing estate in Bangkok's Sai Mai district. Local police immediately informed national police chief Pol Gen Priewpan, who then went to inspect the area.
During the operation, police came across two drug suspects. One of them, Sutthichai Kudteang, was arrested while the other, Suthee Suwanyoosiri, was shot dead by police after he fired at them.
City police, meanwhile, yesterday found another 100,000 methamphetamine pills and 2kg of crystal methamphetamine hidden in a van owned by a drug suspect arrested on June 11.
When Wichan Ngamdaeng, 36, was arrested near the Sanam Luang 2 branch of the Bangkok Bank, police found only two AK47 rifles, two handguns, and 12.9 million baht cash. The suspect had refused to say where he had hidden the drugs.
Police suspected Mr Wichan supplied drugs to customers introduced by his younger brother, Pichit Ngamdaeng, who is an inmate at Klongprem Central Prison, said Pol Col Ponganan Khlaiklueng, chief police investigator of the Metropolitan Police Bureau's Division 9.
In Khon Kaen, police arrested two suspects with 2,000 methamphetamine pills early yesterday morning.
