KUALA LUMPUR: A landlord was shocked to discover that his tenant from Iran had turned his two-storey house into a processing lab for drugs worth millions of ringgit. He went to his house in Taman Megah, Kepong, on Friday to collect the rent after the tenant, in his 30s, failed to pay for two months.
The landlord alerted police, who later discovered four drums containing more than 45,000 litres of black liquid believed to be methamphetamine oil to produce syabu, said city narcotics chief Asst Comm Kang Chez Chiang. He added that the oil was enough to produce 27kg of syabu, which could be sold for RM4.6mil.
Police also found other chemicals and drug lab paraphernalia. Police believe that this case is linked to a raid that was conducted in Sri Hartamas in July in which an Iranian couple were nabbed for turning their house into a drug processing lab and 200kg of syabu worth RM40mil was seized.
ACP Kang urged people to be more aware of their neighbourhood and to report to police of any chemical-based smell. In an unrelated incident, police nabbed a 27-year-old local man and a 34-year-old Nigerian at a hotel in Jalan Alor for carrying 1.1kg of ganja worth RM11,000. The local tested positive for ganja and has three criminal records.
