Drug dealers prey on troubled students
TEMERLOH : Drug dealers and middlepersons are entering campuses looking for students with personal and emotional problems to entice them with “offers.”
Deputy Education Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, who said this, added that there was a low number of university and college students involved in drug abuse in campuses but the government had to be wary of the threat posed by drug dealers.
“But expelling students involved in drug abuse will be the last resort as it will not solve the problem,’’ he said after opening a “Know Your Child” programme held at the Dewan Tun Razak here yesterday.
Saifuddin said the best solution was for parents and friends of the students to play their part, adding that Pengasih (ex-drug addicts body) had entered colleges organise talks in the campuses.
