TAIPING - Drug pushers here have resorted to making home deliveries in order to avoid police detection.

This came to light when police detained a 39-year-old man and found 1,111gm of heroin, a digital weighing scale and empty plastic packets, at about noon two days ago in Kamunting Raya here.

Taiping OCPD ACP Yusuf Mohd Diah said the man, with two previous drug possession offences, was on his way to see his clients.

In a follow-up operation, ACP Yusuf said the man's younger brother was nabbed in front of the Kamunting bus terminal where 90 Eramine 5 pills weighing 26gm and three plastic packets containing syabu weighing 7.5gms were seized from him.

The street value of the 1,111gm of heroin is estimated to be about RM23,000 while the drugs seized from the younger brother are worth about RM3,370 (S$1,300), he said yesterday.

The duo, he said, were being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act and face the death penalty if convicted.

In another case, ACP Yusuf said three men were detained at a house in Seberang, an islet off Kuala Sepetang here, following the discovery of heroin weighing 120gm worth about RM2,400 there on Monday.

About an hour later, police seized 30 Eramine 5 pills worth about RM390 from a house at the islet and arrested the male occupant.
