Driver jailed for Myanmar man's death after appeal
Prosecution argues $6,000 fine for causing engineer's death was 'unjustly lenient'

A driver, originally fined $6,000 for causing the death of a Myanmar project engineer in an accident, will now have to spend a week in jail instead.
The prosecution had appealed, arguing that the fine was 'unjustly lenient'. After hearing arguments on Wednesday, Justice Chao Hick Tin agreed that Sylvester Lee Kao Chong, 41, should be jailed.
An aggravating factor was that Lee, a contractor, was reversing at a fast speed, said the judge.
Lee had been handed a $6,000 fine in December last year when he pleaded guilty to causing the death of Mr Phyie Phyo Swe, 31, by a negligent act. He was also banned from driving for three years.
