The incidents - from crashes to an assault - could have belonged to a Hollywood thriller but they happened on Monday in Choa Chu Kang. In the end, a 52-year-old Singaporean lorry driver was arrested for suspected driving under the influence of drugs.
The drama began at around 8am along Choa Chu Kang Way when he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a road divider. Chinese newspaper Lianhe Wanbao reported that the lorry went on to hit a traffic light and three vehicles - two cars and a taxi - which were heading in the opposite direction.
According to the Chinese evening daily, the lorry driver did not stop or get out of his vehicle to inspect the damage. Instead, he reversed his vehicle to get back onto Choa Chu Kang Way and proceeded on his journey. Minutes later, the lorry knocked down a roadside traffic sign.
The driver still did not stop but continued for about 100m more before the lorry's engine stalled at the junction of Choa Chu Kang Way and Choa Chu Kang Avenue 3.
