SINGAPORE: Singapore’s Foreign Ministry (MFA) urges Singaporeans to postpone their travel to Bangkok to a later date if they have no pressing need to go there.

A MFA’s spokesman says the situation in the Thai capital remains uncertain and they are closely monitoring the situation.

He adds that Singaporeans intending to travel to Thailand should monitor news developments there.

And before they travel, they are advised to register with the Ministry at www.mfa.gov.sg.

This will enable the Ministry and the Singapore Embassy in Bangkok to contact them and render necessary consular assistance in case of emergencies.

When in Bangkok, he advises Singaporeans to avoid areas where there is a risk of disturbance, like the Government House.

They should also take the necessary precautions for their personal safety, including buying comprehensive medical and travel insurance.

He adds that during this period of uncertainty, Singaporeans must be prepared to face inconveniences in their travel.

MFA George Yeo is looking very silly. Who needs this type of advisory?

Try to book a flight from Singapore to Bangkok? Can? The $20k-per-year salary ticketing agent can tell you much more about why you can't go to Bangkok now than the $2m-per-year salary minister, if you haven't already figured it out yourself and insist on asking. For those who really need to or know how to go Bangkok, why ask? What advisory's needed? Just get yourself into any Thai province and catch a bus or train to Bangkok, if you really need to be there.

Fancy Singaporeans paying some S$2m to George Yeo for issuing such tautological and oxymoronic advisories. The real Foreign Affairs jobs are still carried out by SM Goh Chok Tong and MM Lee Kuan Yew, who still made a mess of it. Total expenses of about S$8m per year spent on just 3 persons, to handle foreign affairs and travel advisories.

the suvarnabhumi airport was declared closed. all flights going in & out of bkk are halted. even if our MFA says, the coast is clear for visiting BKK, there's virtually no other route other than by road or by sea.

this is called, 脱裤放屁

What if I have a sexual urge to screw a Thai gal in a Thai brothel? Is it considered a pressing need?

Bro, there are still ways to go to Thailand via air.

Either to Phuket, or to Chiang Mai and then via road.

So the advisory was to say don't go Bangkok unless necessary. Thailand still have many provinces with airports. And a lot of foreigners are swarming to other airports outside bangkok to just leave thailand so that they can catch other flights home.

without sinkies going to bangcock, the thais are losing so much...even the ordinary folks are damned fed up with these warring factions trying to gain power...what sort of country is this? lawlessness and anarchy.you call this thai hospitality? don't play play with these thais. they can smile and they can even smile with a knife tucked in their sleeve.read about the rapes in phuket or not? read about the abduction and rapes and murders of backpackers or not? yes, thais can be hospitable.but don't over-step and over thrust them too much. they can turn round and just stab you dead. you know or not? smiling people are dangerous. thaksin always smiles. many killers are smiling people. the recent china national who killed three women is smiling all the time. the botak who smiled shot his friend point blank! so the land of smiles - be careful and be very careful.don't kena killed there! can explode anytime now! the king is now quite helpless. the army's call is now useless. the parliament is useless. now who is running this country where people can just sleep anywhere even in parliament and in the pm's house!!!
