Don't dismiss US
'Americans remain unparalleled in their ability to innovate.'
MR WILLIAM TAY: 'I refer to Mr Patrick Low's letter, 'Pax Americana in 2039? Think again' (Oct 16). There is no doubt that the world will be better off with a thriving America than a declining one. Many economists ignore China's immense problems that could undermine its growth in the future. So do not be too quick to dismiss the United States. Its political culture allows for vigorous debate that leads to self-correction, while Americans remain unparalleled in their ability to innovate. The US is still a beacon of hope and opportunity.'
