Don't crowd MacRitchie with food outlets
Mr Mayur Vora in a letter to my paper,

I REFER to the letter, "MacRitchie facilities being improved" (my paper, Feb 24).
PUB, the national water agency, said that there will be a food-and-beverage outlet at the hilltop.
I hope that there will not be too many eateries in the area as they can create a mess. They also disturb the serenity of the park.
These outlets should be kept away from the main park area and perhaps integrated with the carpark instead.
People may consume the food in the park and leave their refuse all over the place.
I have been to nature reserves in many countries and food outlets are not allowed in them.
I hope the authorities could follow suit and not make people happy at the expense of the environment.

This I agree. Don't develope until nature park look like concrete jungle. Better leave it alone as now. Don't even develope it.

make sense. do we really need more food outlets at MachRitchie? just further down the road is thomson, longbeach, roti prata etc.

Because in singapore every cubic feet of land must be used to generate rental income. Don't be surprised if you see one Harry's pub at the treetop walk next year.
