I am not trying to be funny, but just wondering whether McDonalds in India sells beef burgers or not.

After all, most Indians are Hindus and Hindus don't take beef, so does McDonalds sell beef there or not?

If they don't, sounds funny, cos McDonalds burgers are beef burgers.. so if no beef burgers, then no point setting up shop in India!

Anybody been to India? Care to comment?

They do not!

In fact, they have veggie burgers as well as the usual chicken and fish stuff

As usual it takes a bit of discussion before the commonsense truth emerges.

McDonald is a profit-making company.

In Singapore, it is after the Muslim dollar. As Chinese, Indians and other non-Malays take halal-food, it makes sense to have a halal only restaurant as the non-Muslims are accomodating.

By catering to the needs of Muslims, McDonald and other restaurants on the halal bandwagon, capture the entire market.

In India, there is no point in having a halal-certified restaurant since you are catering to Hindus. Thus in avoiding beef burgers, McDonalds capture the entire Indian market (since the Muslims are mostly in Pakistan anyway).

I thought that was a pretty good point that was raised.

In another post elsewhere in this forum, someone said that he is against halal food because of the way the animals were killed. It is unncessarily cruel. Not being even partially knowledgeable in the methods of killing animals the halal-way, it is difficult to comment. However if true then for animal lovers, it can be an incentive to avoid halal restaurants.

In the end, it is your money.

You spend it according to your beliefs.

McDonald will respond accordingly.
