SINGAPORE: A doctor has been suspended for four months and fined S$4,000 for inappropriately prescribing drugs to his patients.
Dr Tan Boon Huat, who practised at BH Tan Clinic along Bukit Timah Road, pleaded guilty to 33 charges of professional misconduct.
The Health Ministry complained against him to the Singapore Medical Council (SMC) in December 2007.
The council said Dr Tan had inappropriately prescribed benzodiazepines and other hypnotic drugs to his patients either in terms of the amount prescribed or in terms of the duration they were prescribed.
Dr Tan, who was also censured, was ordered to provide a written undertaking to the SMC that he will not engage in similar conduct.
