Call them! Just tell them you love them!

[I have seen many converts to many other religion, but none as heartless and as ruthless as new-christian converts. read: non-catholic christians.

I seen Muslim, hindu and many other religion converts that still pray to their dead taoist parents on their last day on earth, however, personally having witnessed too many incidents of "christians" talking to to their non-christian parents about how "god" is their father and how they refused to even hold incense, even if the surviving parent beg them for 1 last time before the coffin close.

Only new Christian converts do this. They acknowledge God, but disown their own parents who raise them up. They refuse to even give 1 last respect to dying people. I seen crying mothers who begged the son to burn incense for 1 last time to father closing coffin, but he not only refused, but still proudly declare he is christian now, cannot touch. After attending his father funeral, i refused to have all ties with this fella.

If a religion tells people to disown their parents and own care about their own selfish beliefs and words, then to me its a cult, main stream or not.

No other religion openly talks bad about other religion and belittle others as ferociously as christians in singapore.

If Christians in Singapore think about why others are so resentful towards, them, then its time they take a lood look at their own practices before condemning or behaving like they are victimized.]

Actually Christians are not suppose to bow to dead carcasses!

When a person died, his spirit and soul are gone, what is left is just empty dead shell which formerly houses the spirit and the soul. when you are bowing to the dead person, it makes no difference to bowing to a table. It is stated in the bible that holding an incense is compared to praying to idols, which God displeases!

Instead of equating holding incense to a dead person as respect, why not ask if he treated his dad well before he was alive?

That will be more accurate accounts of having respect for his parent. No point giving him grand funeral if he is not treated well when he's alive.

If you force people to hold incense even though he's not willing, you are the cult yourself. Because you are superstitous! I really thank God for giving me an understanding parents for not forcing me to do things which God displeases.

Only superstituous folks watching on the sideline can make such and insensitive comments during a personal tragedy such a funeral.

Although i agree with this "cult" part, you must also understand that to some taoist parents, this is very important for them.

For example, I'm a buddhist who doesn't believe in using incense. However, if I'm praying to my dead relatives, it's only respectful to offer incense. Similarly, I do cross myself when attending a church service, if I do go for mass with my Christian friends.

Religion and family is about respect. Whatever happened when the person was alive, it's also important about what will happen when the person is dead.

That is true. However, if a mother has to cry and beg her newly converted Christian son to offer incense to his father at his father's funeral, I think it's a judgement call that he can FOR ONE MOMENT, put aside his faith and remember his role as a son.

I am sure God would like him to do that too.

If his faith was more important than making his mother feel better... then I guess it's his choice.

I would respect that belief, don't care what religion my kids have, but not everyone's as open minded as that.

That is where you don't understand the Christian beliefs!

That is the moment to prove your faith in God.

God is above your parents!! You have to respect God more than your parents. It is stated in the bible that there will be arguments with your earthly parents when you have Christ. it's unavoidable, if the choice is either one. There cannot be both choices, unfortunately. Because we don't comply to the worldy standards.

But one good news though, the families of the Christians will be blessed by God.

You can claim it from God when you pray. Okay secrets is out!!

I wonder what God feels about his mortal followers who do such things to their own parents in his name and his faith.
