Quite simple-minded, aren't you? And I thought Sporeans are sophisticated enough to think for themselves. You really disappoint me.
Firstly you can always raise objections - in various ways. Make noise, write to the Straits Times (not Sammyboy lah!), make it known. You know the present government is very sensitive. Of course you can always threaten to vote for Chee or Chiam or K Jeyaratam.
Who doesn't owe who a living? Don't be naive. Everyone owes every other one a living. Even the Bangladeshi who sweeps your void deck and clear your rubbish. If you don't believe just let the Bangladeshi off for a week - your place will stink, your void deck will turn into a rubbish dump, and your lift will become a public toilet.
We owe the gahment - because they see and deal with big issues - such as getting Genting and Vegas Sands to invest their billion dollar projects and we get to work and earn money for a living. They see to the defence of Singapore - so that neighbouring bullies don't always belittle us and threaten to cut of water or sand.
The gahment owes us a living because they depend on our votes every five years. You may not be able to vote , but there are enough constituencies for other Singaporeans to vote it out of office. But as I said earlier, Sporeans are smart. They want the PAP gahment but at the same time want leverage - get some oppositions in Parliament (but now in my constituencies)
Let's be objective about it. Many countries even those that are not like Singapore - without natural resources, without even water to support itself, with so different races ready to tear each other apart when times are bad, with so many foreigners living and working in our midst, or giant neighbours making fun of us and yet so jealous of our success - tell me how to survive?
If you don't kowtow and thank your lucky star that you live in Singapore, or are a Singapore, I dont know which god you are going to kowtow to. Ask Qong Li, Jet Li or even Jackie Chan why they want to live here or be citizen of this tiny island - when their country can accommodate billions of people?
