i find this very strange.whenever i dream, i would be taken back to my happiest childhood days in kampng lives. life was simple yet unadulterated. there were many simple pleasures and it didn't cost a cent like climbing up a tree plucking fruits, catching spiders and fought them out on matchboxes, making kties from coconut sticks and discarded newspaper....etc

how many kids now have a chance to play in the longkangs catching fishes and even swimming in it? how many know how to may a catapult we called LASTIK fr sturdy twigs using dicarded inner tyre tubing?

there were so much lost and invaluable childhood memories that seem quite impossible to pass to our present young. but best of all, the kampong spirit of UNITY, CARE AND CONCERN for neighbours is lost. in kampong, our doors were usually wide opened cos we knew almost every neighbours. if ever there was a stranger intruding, any kampong folks would know and won't hesitate to alert everyone.
sgp rapid urbanisation does seem beneficial on the surface. strangely, within me, i feel something very important and dear to our hearts is eradicated. it's now more about money, self-benefit and gainful rewards. it's very materialistic now.
looking at our own minitoots, the confirmation is very real and obvious. it's about money and more benefits.

maybe that could be one of the reason opp parties don't get more supports cos of their limited resources and "benefits" to dish out to supporters.

we have to come to our basic righteous sense and honesty. we must ask ourselves: IS THIS WHAT OUR FUTURE GENERATION is all about - MONEY AND MORE PERSONAL BENEFITS?

think about it. are u happier now or before? i can unabashfully say: my kampong days were the happiest moments in my life but it's such a pity the present generation has lost this experience - they shall never ve the chance experience that heart-warming kampong spirirt.

kampong boys were very good at laying traps for wild animals. one of our favorite past time was to trap pariah rabid dogs and despicable nasty crows.
