A lunch outing with family at Tun Xiang Hokkien Delights in Northpoint City turned into an extremely unfortunate experience for 41-year-old Ms Liang.

On 2 Feb 2025, Ms Liang visited Tun Xiang Hokkien Delights for lunch with her husband and her son. They ordered a set meal which included sesame oil chicken, pomfret and stuffed tofu.

The first piece of sesame oil chicken that Ms Liang picked up was described to be very tough, and she spat it out. The second piece she ate was also the same, and upon spitting it out as well, she thoroughly examined the meat and found it to be “extremely undercooked”.

Her husband alerted the waitstaff upon this discovery, and the plate of chicken was replaced. The cost of her meal was also waived by the restaurant. Ms Liang reported feeling fine upon returning home, but was awoken in the early morning by severe stomach pains and experienced vomiting and diarrhoea afterwards. However, both her husband and son were fine.

Speaking to Shin Min Daily News, Ms Liang shared that she’d spent “more than 100 dollars” on medical expenses, and had to rest at home for 3 days. She returned to the restaurant on 8 Feb to explain the situation and showed them her medical bills, hoping for a resolution. She said she has not received a response and is upset with the situation.

On the restaurant’s part, the manager has said that they have done their best to handle the matter, and that they are currently waiting for the main company to process Ms Liang’s complaint.

“It was a busy day, so maybe the kitchen was careless for a while. We have done our best to deal with it at the moment,” said the manager.

Raw or undercooked chicken can be contaminated with Campylobacter, Salmonella, or Clostridium perfringens germs, which can cause serious foodborne illness. As such, it should always be cooked.

Let's face it. China is now a super power. And just like entire American continent where US dominate, east Asia is China's realm.
