Too small, to down airliner with this you need to fire this repeatedly over period of time and distance. That means you have to plan a proper ambush route. You need to prepare 10 of these.

If the plane is already cruising at 30000 feet (5 miles), these short range SAMs might not have the legs to reach the target.

If the plane has just taken off from the airport, I believe even 1 of those (heat seeker SAMs) in the picture might be enough to set off a giant fireball secondary explosion if it hits the hot jet turbines and the fuel tanks in the aircraft wings.

In Iraq terrorists manage to bring down a DHL cargo jet. The crew survived because of their skill.

I doubt that the red shirts have any plans to bring down an airliner. Their beef is with the Thai gov't & not with other gov'ts.

Their leader is Thug-SIN which is a friend of SINgapore, the red-shirts will gladly carry LHL over their heads , all the way to the airport. We are SINgapore, SINpaore friend...once in awhile, we drop by for 'bak kut teh' at Rangoon Rd.

No need to worry lah, just the usual Thai kampong politics

Even if it turns ugly & they "accidentally" drop LHL would anyone miss LHL

Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong walks as he departs from U-Tapao military airport in Sattahip April 11, 2009. A summit of Asian leaders in Thailand was cancelled on Saturday after hundreds of anti-government protesters broke through a cordon of troops and swarmed into the meeting's venue. About half of the Asian leaders attending the summit were evacuated by helicopter to a nearby military airbase.
