Desmond should join the Singapore Justice Party or form a new party call the Singapore People’s Justice Party. No time for him now. He shall contest in next General Election. Anytime he will be sack from SPP.

The wife of Potong Pasir MP Mr Chiam See Tong had allegedly sent a text message to fire the Singapore People's Party Secretary-General, Desmond Lim from his post.

According to the Chinese evening daily Lianhe Wanbao, his wife had sent the text message on Monday.

Pictures published on the newspaper showed screenshots of two messages.

The first read, "This is to inform you that you are no longer required to attend the mps on thursdays at Potong Pasir Chiam See Tong".

The message was believed to have been sent by Mrs Chiam in her husband's name.

A second message read, "Desmond has also been relieved of his "consultant" post from TC".

Speaking to Lianhe Wanbao, some Potong Pasir residents feared that with the recent goings-on in the party, veteran MP Chiam might lose his seat in Parliament, a post he had held for the last 25 years.

At the end of the day, all parties have to ask themselves this - are they in it for themselves or for the residents of Potong Pasir? If Chiam, Lina and Desmond truly respect the constituents, then they should at least get the residents' feedback or conduct a poll on who the they want as their next SPP MP - Lina or Desmond. Let the people decide, not just one person or two. If the residents' choice is Desmond, then the Chiams have to accept it.

CST has done his part for the country as an opposition.

He should retire and let some other opposition candidate (don't care who, can be anyone as long as opposition) represent Potong Pasir.

I have no love for people who refuse to retire when their time is up, just like that Old Fark :(

What feedback? The residents of Potong Pasir voted for Chiam See Tong, not Desmond Lim. If Desmond stood in Towner Garden or Buangkok Green, he might win.

Ramseth, you are a fucking moron.

Chiam See Tong does not run the show alone. He has helpers to assist him, and party members to organize party related activities for him. Desmond lim is one such person who has contributed his share to SPP. No matter whether his current behaviour is acceptable or not does NOT alter this fact.

True, the voters voted Chiam, but Chiam's work is made possible only by the support of numerous people. Why not let the constituents give Chiam feedback about Desmond? Furthermore Chiam said he would leave PP ... which is all the more justified that he should hear the views of his residents regarding Lina & Desmond.

Just because you are MP does not mean you can't practice democracy, and adopt a consultative approach, especially when you have already indicated that someone else is going to take you place at PP. Go get your gay lover Scroobal to rebut my points since he loves you, because you're obviously outclassed.

Exactly. If Chiam is staying put, then of course this is a non-issue. If there is a need for his replacement, then the constituents' opinion matters. Chiam may have his preference, but the ultimate decision should weigh heavily on who the constituents want - Lina or Desmond, to replace him, and not the Chiam family.

Its disappointing and not unexpected. Chiam has always doone things as an independent candidate and he always worked as a lawyer as a one man show. He is very autocratic when it comes to his role as a politician. He should have made it clear to Desmond and not string him along. There is also the possibility that he picked Desmond to avoid a challenge in the first place. Sadly it poorly reflects on his party and the members.

I think it reflects poorly on Chiam. After all these years, his party is a dud and it is because of him. Though PP voted for him, they may now come to realise that all their faith and the sacrifices has come to nought when he leaves. Just like SDP, which is now aimless, SPP will be similar, both a creation of the same man.

Chiam should bear in mind that the votes cast was primarily to reject PAP's style of governance and not that Chiam could offer something more superior. Now that the party is disintegrating, it then becomes a bigger shock as there is no continuity in the fight. We laugh at Ho Ching and this seems to be the same.

KJ was right all along.
