The wife of Potong Pasir MP Mr Chiam See Tong had allegedly sent a text message to fire the Singapore People's Party Secretary-General, Desmond Lim from his post.
According to the Chinese evening daily Lianhe Wanbao, his wife had sent the text message on Monday.
Pictures published on the newspaper showed screenshots of two messages.
The first read, "This is to inform you that you are no longer required to attend the mps on thursdays at Potong Pasir Chiam See Tong".
The message was believed to have been sent by Mrs Chiam in her husband's name.
A second message read, "Desmond has also been relieved of his "consultant" post from TC".
Speaking to Lianhe Wanbao, some Potong Pasir residents feared that with the recent goings-on in the party, veteran MP Chiam might lose his seat in Parliament, a post he had held for the last 25 years.
