Man held after blocking, hitting SBS bus

SINGAPORE - A man who stopped a public bus on the road last Saturday and hit it after its driver refused to let him board has been arrested.
The 51-year-old man, who appeared to be drunk, rushed across Serangoon Road as the SBS Transit Service 65 bus was moving out of a bus stop in front of a Hindu temple.
He stood in front of it, obstructing its path.
He demanded that the driver let him board the bus, which was already in the second lane of the five-lane road.
When the driver refused, he repeatedly kicked and pounded at the exterior of the vehicle. He also walked to the door, gestured to the driver and shouted at him, asking him to open it.
The driver called SBS Transit's operations control centre, which contacted the police.
SBS Transit said the man damaged the left rear-view mirror of the bus as well as its front windscreen wiper.
A video of the incident that took place at 6pm, taken by a passenger on the bus, has been uploaded on various websites, including citizen journalism site Stomp.
The video shows a passer-by advising the man to get back on the pavement, and another man trying to lead him away from the bus. A police spokesman said it received a call for help at 555, Serangoon Road at 6.12pm.
Police officers arrested the man, and investigations are on- going.
SBS Transit said the incident disrupted the journey for the 45 passengers on the bus.
