Decomposed body identified by cops
KUANTAN: Police have identified the highly decomposed body of a man with gunshot wounds found at KM46 Karak Highway on Sunday evening as Ng Lai Huat, 48, from Kampung Stesen in Kuala Kangsar, Perak. State CID chief Senior Assistant Commissioner T. Narenasagaran said police also found that Ng had 11 previous drug and crime-related convictions.
He added that the latest offence was for extortion under Section 384 in Kuala Kangsar. “The identity was confirmed based on his thumbprints. “Police will inform the family soon,” he told reporters after a farewell gathering for former state police chief Datuk Robiah Abdul Ghani at the state police contingent’s headquarters here yesterday.
Robiah is now Director of Management. Former state deputy police chief SAC (I) Datuk Sharifuddin Abd Ghani has been appointed the new state police chief. It was reported that two 9mm bullets were recovered during a post-mortem carried out at Tengku Ampuan Afzan Hospital here and that Ng had been shot in the head and abdomen.
The body was reported to have been found lying on the slope along the highway. Ng was believed to have died more than 24 hours before his body was discovered.
