SINGAPORE: A 46-year-old man was arrested for suspected involvement in loansharking activities during a Police roadblock in the wee hours of Sunday morning.
On 11 March 2012 at about 3.25am, Police officers from the Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducting a roadblock along Lentor Avenue stopped a taxi which was carrying a male passenger.
The officers noticed that the passenger appeared to be nervous and decided to conduct a check on him.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 12 March and a remand order would be sought for him to be remanded in Ang Mo Kio Police Division to assist in further investigation.
Under the Moneylenders' Act 2010 (Revised Edition), offenders found guilty of assisting in the business of unlicensed moneylending shall be fined not less than S$30,000 and not more S$300,000.
