Deadly Landslide Caught On Camera In Colombia

Witnesses could only watch on helplessly as 30 people were buried by a landslide in Colombia.
Weeks of heavy rain have triggered flooding around the country, resulting in the deaths of more than 70 people. But in the latest incident, a deadly landslide caught a group of bus passengers off guard between two villages northwest of the capital Bogota. Their fate was caught on video as they changed from one vehicle to another on a mountain road.
Suddenly, tons of earth swept down the hillside - burying everything in its path. "There are no survivors, that's for sure," said regional disaster relief chief John Freddy Rendon. Rescue officials said it would take at least a week to retrieve the bodies, which includes pregnant women and children. President Juan Manuel Santos visited the scene of the disaster and offered his condolences to the victims' families.
"The first thing I'd like to say is that our hearts are with the families of the people who have disappeared here, we are doing our best to locate them," he said. However, he warned others from venturing out in treacherous weather conditions. "I'd like to tell Colombians that when authorities advise them about a risk, please listen to them, don't go against the advice of the police and the authorities in general."
