DBS has identified 13,000 employees that require upskilling or reskilling, in order to enable them to be future-ready, it said on Tuesday (Feb 25).

To date, more than 10,000 staff have commenced their respective learning road maps, which include skills related to artificial intelligence (AI) and data, said the bank.

This comes after Bloomberg on Monday reported that the lender plans to cut about 4,000 of its contract and temporary staff over the next three years, as AI increasingly takes on roles carried out by human beings.

Sometimes I see all these employers are behaving like charitable organisations than a profit based Org.

If I were the ceo, I will fire all of them and hire new fresh blood who are already AI trained.
This is what a business minded ceo should do.

Becos of these charitable mindset, you get more and more jlbs old farts par see mai chow

In the end, it is workers whom help CEOs make profits. Without workers, more so those whom had worked faithfully over years, thru mis-steps & corrections, & STRONGER for it to help others, more so the NEW entrants, such are necessary for a company to grow, evolve & prosper....

No doubt there will be JLB, but NOT all JLB have poor mindsets, thus HR dept, KPI ( Key Performance Index ) comes into play, & even MOM.

No company, no doubt is a charity org, but without those whom had helped grow, groom & elevate the often idealistic & naive new, whom have no CLEAR vision of realities, no company or govt service will exist......

DBS did right in this instance, to reduce costly labor redundancies, but at the same time offered MANY MORE opportunities for employees to upgrade their skills to stay relevant in the Finance Industry, which COMES AT A COST to DBS, as skill upgrades are NOT free, nor are PROFESSIONALS conducting such courses live on air, with loved ones to feed....but yet a shared burden to taxpayers funding such exercises as WE will leave none behind....
