The most ghastly Christmas memory I have was in 2007.
I was at Ministry of Sound with a group of friends and a few of their friends, whom I was not that familiar with. Around 10 of us were concentrated at our private table and circular white bed in the PURE room. As I was the only one with a camera, I gladly let everyone use it to snap away till our hearts content and pass it around to view the shots. Halfway through the night, I asked for my camera. Guess what, NO ONE HAD IT. Well I mean obviously someone did have it, but was LYING about it. So much for my generosity to share. Can you imagine, STEALING another person's possessions on CHRISTMAS?!?!!! That runs counter to everything good, kind and beautiful that Christmas stands for!
Because they were not my direct friends whose character I cannot vouch for, only 4 people were really suspect in this case. They were ACS boys, and rather well-known in fact. Might I add that no one left our area till that point of time (or at least I didn't notice... however I'm 95% sure about that). Boiling with rage inside, believe me I wanted to kick up a big fuss. I had to stop myself from yelling "hold it right there!" and locking them down to do a full body inspection. But, for the greater good, I did not wish to ruin the Christmas mood for everyone else, in addition to putting the friend who invited them in a bad position. Poor guy already kept apologizing profusely. Thus I simply let everyone know that I was looking for my camera and if anyone found it to kindly pass it back to me. (you can bet no one did)
Lesson of the holidays: always watch your stuff, don't be overly trusting like I was, even on special occasions such as Christmas.
My friends told me I may be more susceptible to instances of theft because people might be more curious to go through my things, hence I'm actually rather paranoid now!
