At the start of the new millennium the Dalai Lama apparently issued eighteen rules for living.

1. Take into account that great love and great achievements involve great risk.
2. When you lose, don’t lose the lesson.
3. Follow the three Rs:
1. Respect for self
2. Respect for others
3. Responsibility for all your actions.
4. Remember that not getting what you want is sometimes a wonderful stroke of luck.
5. Learn the rules so you know how to break them properly.
6. Don’t let a little dispute injure a great friendship.
7. When you realize you’ve made a mistake, take immediate steps to correct it.
8. Spend some time alone every day.
9. Open your arms to change, but don’t let go of your values.
10. Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
11. Live a good, honourable life. Then when you get older and think back, you’ll be able to enjoy it a second time.
12. A loving atmosphere in your home is the foundation for your life.
13. In disagreements with loved ones, deal only with the current situation. Don’t bring up the past.
14. Share your knowledge. It’s a way to achieve immortality.
15. Be gentle with the earth.
16. Once a year, go someplace you’ve never been before.
17. Remember that the best relationship is one in which your love for each other exceeds your need for each other.
18. Judge your success by what you had to give up in order to get it.

So after trying to observe all the ruless of living and at the end stage of one's life ...one end up as a taxi driver, just to scrape thru the remaining part of the life!:D

Cooleo's 18 principles of life

1. Be rich. Be very rich.
2. Work hard and smart. Remember buffalos work hard, but they don't get paid well do they?
3. Treat everyone differently. Shower love on those who have shown you love in return. Treat everyone else with contempt.
4. Treat your enemies with malice.
5. Indulge yourself, be it a vice or otherwise.
6. Learn from your mistakes.
7. Lower your expectations of others, and you won't be disappointed.
8. Understand the ulterior motives of everyone.
9. Be dishonest and learn to live with it.
10. Learn to control your anger and plot intelligently.
11. Make use of others, and pretend to be unaware of being made use of.
12. Stay healthy.
13. Be free from religions. Each and every single religion restricts you in certain ways. But remember, you only have 1 life.
14. Be charitable to others less fortunate, but learn to weed out the leeches.
15. Implant the seed of fear in others. Let it grow.
16. Learn to smile with your eyes. People can detect whether you are genuine or not, from your eyes. Learn this and master the art of deception.
17. Do not let tolerate bullshit from others. Life is too short to be taken advantage of. Deal with them, hurt them and move on.
18. Finally, go with your heart and head.
