Lee Kelly punched, smothered and tried to stab his daughter.
A father in the United Kingdom has been jailed after he stabbed his teenage daughter for not supporting him in a game of pool.
Lee Kelly, 35, was locked up for ten years after being found guilty of attempted murder of his daughter, Jade.
The thug struck after taking the 16-year-old on a shopping trip to Manchester.
He drank lager and whisky throughout the day before attacking his daughter while travelling on a train.
In front of other passengers, none of whom tried to intervene, Kelly shouted that he hated the teenager, punched her in the face and bit her hand before punching the windows on the train.
When they got off the train, they headed to a nearby pub where Kelly drank more.
He also got involved in a pool contest but lost.
Kelly tried to kill his daughter at the family home in Cecil Street, Walkden, near Salford. The house is the one with the open door
He became angry again and said he had lost because the girl had not supported him.
They left for home.
When they arrived home, Kelly threw her on the couch and began to hit her around the head.
He went into the kitchen and returned with a three-inch knife.
Terrified, the girl grabbed a cushion but Kelly began to try and stab her.
At one point the knife went through the cushion and cut her hand.
Kelly then walked off but returned - hurling the family's Staffordshire Bull Terrier against the wall and grabbing the girl by her hair.
She had hidden the knife but after an unsuccessful attempt at trying to suffocate her, he went to the kitchen and returned with a larger one.
The girl then ran out of the house and managed to flag down a passing taxi for help.
At Manchester Crown Court, Kelly was given a ten-year custodial sentence with an additional five year licence for the attack, which happened on June 1.
The girl had to have surgery for tendon damage to her hand.
