SINGAPORE - An account manager, who caused a traffic obstruction along Pasir Ris Drive 3 by cycling in the middle of a lane, deliberately damaged the left side-view mirror of a lorry when it tried to pass him.
British national Eric Cheung Hoyu then tumbled onto a nearby grass verge when the lorry hit him.
The incident last December was caught on video which went viral.
Cheung, 35, who pleaded guilty to one count each of committing mischief and an offence under the Road Traffic Act, was fined $2,800 on Friday (April 12).
District Judge Marvin Bay said that Cheung should note that it is "inherently dangerous" and "extremely inconsiderate" to ride in the middle of the lane.
He noted that Deputy Public Prosecutor Gabriel Choong said Cheung had remained in that lane for 48 seconds.

The judge added: "I note that the action of launching a back fist against the side wing mirror was plainly a deliberate act of mischief. Your act of mischief has some attributes of a road rage incident but I do note that there was no injury caused to the lorry driver."
