Cybercafe worker arrested for raping teen
KUALA LUMPUR: A cybercafe employee has been arrested for statutory rape after he failed to extort a 15-year-old student by threatening to expose her nude pictures.
City CID chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Ku Chin Wah said the 37-year-old man was arrested at about 3pm in his house at Jalan Imbi on Monday after the student’s parents lodged a police report.
“The student befriended the suspect last month via a friendship column in a local magazine.
“After corresponding via SMS for a week, the man persuaded the student to go with him for dinner and later to a hotel,” he said.
SAC Ku said the two met up several times in the hotel and the suspect then demanded money from the student.
However, when the student failed to get the cash, the suspect threatened to expose her nude pictures.
The case has been classified under Section 376 of the Penal Code for statutory rape.
