in support of the curry coalition in sg, we have curry for the whole week in the bay area prior to the labor day weekend. samosa filled with vegan curry for appetizer today; curry chicken with baguette for dinner tonight; curry 'chap chye' for lunch tomorrow; curry noodles for dinner tomorrow; curry laksa for dinner the day after; beef curry over rice on wednesday; bbq with curry kebab on labor day; lamb curry over brown rice on friday; curry over and under curry on saturday and taking a dip in a jacuzzi filled with curry fish head soup on sunday. go curry. it's a unifying force. may the force and curry be with you.

I'm surprised that you manage to get so many curry dishes in Bay Area. Only good one I know was a northern Indian restaurant around Jones-Sutter intersection; can't remember it's name.

all curries mentioned were homemade by sinkie women who couldn't get rid of the curry dna in their genes. guys like me just hang around for the sexy aroma that they curry....carry. although imbued with neantherthal genes, must admit i still curry....carry curry genes.

today the first batch of weekend curry has decided to see light of day. smooth, together in one long tube, and as usual, curryish. can see speckles of red pepper chili skin still intact as they don't digest fully. cause burning sensation up one's arse. good to let it go.

The motels in Oakland - many are run/managed by South Asians. I lived there for free when I visited a college mate whose parents are indian immigrants from Zimbabwe. Damn, after a few years of turkey sandwiches and pasta, I was so happy to smell curry from the kitchen and really dug into the homemade rotis!

Cheers!

pre-processed curry or post-processed? recommend hot spicy curry for great sensation the next morning.
I cook with blue ginger, ginger, tumeric, kaffir leaves, lemon grass and chilli, you think leh? LOL

When I visited SF bay area (mid-80s) I just graduated and no money to go to restaurants. So for meals, ate at my friend's home, which was inside the motel compounds. The room I stayed in - they could not rent it out - it had bullet holes in the wall! The motel was a low-end sleaze joint, mostly frenquented by truckers, customers of local hookers. Lots of drug and gun dealers - an education in itself.

Best indian food I've had - a family run north indian eatery in Markham, Ontario called Shahee's. Their shrimp masala and garlic naan are just addictive. And you can have all that for less than five bucks.

Cheers!

Wah you can cook curry. I can cooking nothing except maggie mee LOL. I don't like Indian or Malay curry. I like Chinese laksa curry and chicken curry, can be used as gravy for rice or dip for bread.

Eaten many variety of curries, I still prefer the Indonesian style curry, its light in coconut milk but packed full of spices.

Dun like Indian curry very much because they put cardamon, star anis and cinnamon along with basic spices, too over powering
Malay curry a bit sweet with thick coconut.
Thai curry is nice, but not hot
Phillipines curry is a bit like Indo curry, but less spicey, got western influenced

Thai curry is something like green tom yam sweet without sour, not very hot unless you purposely spice it up. I like original tom yam better but that's not considered as curry generally.

I seriously a damn good cook, LOL

You can win in the contest for Joetys niece in Afghanistan if you can cook Afghanistan curry LOL.

that's a long time ago, before nichole seah and kate spade chick were born. oakland today is worst. drive by shooting everyday, not just nights now. 2 or 3 get shot per day.

a lot of indian and paki food here these days.....so much so that even the sewer system is beginning to smell like curry. :D

so far sinkie laksa curry is the most unique curry that can only be found in sg. malaysian laksa doesn't come close; it's either spicy and sour like penang style or like curry noodles johor style. me thinks tom yam from thailand, bun bo hue from vietnam, and original spicy and sour laksa are all related.
