TAMPA, Fla. - A Royal Caribbean cruise has returned to the Tampa, Fla., port after 150 passengers and crew members suffered a stomach illness.
The Radiance of the Seas left Jan. 3 for Mexico and returned Saturday.
It has been sanitized and is scheduled to leave Saturday night on another cruise.
The company said it suspects the illness was a stomach flu, which is highly contagious.
Those affected were given over-the-counter medication.
Passenger Cindy Watson of Lutz told the Tampa Tribune she was frightened by repeated announcements regarding the flu and by precautions such as banning menus and silverware from meals.
She didn't want her 3-year-old son to touch anything.
