Some of the comments posted here about Mr Tan's bid for presidency is downright unfair and callous.

If Mr Tan is not serious about serving us, why would he launch a petition to collect 100,00 signatures ? If Singaporeans are not ready for an alternative to challenge the PAP, why should he take the risk ?

There are credible people in TOC who are willing to follow Mr Tan. However, we need more support from you.

TOC has now become the No 1 socio-political blog in Singapore and a force to reckon with. We are not afraid of anybody.

Unfortunately, most forumers here are mere empty vassals who knows how to make noise only, but dare not take any concrete action to change the status quo.

My message to these idiots is: keep your mouth shut if you have nothing better to say.

Everybody is entitled to their own opinions. prove those plp wrong, including me. Politics is not buying insurance, collect 100k signatures.

I sincerely and honestly believe that Mr Tan is a good man with no ulterior or any selfish agenda. He is a humble man. He is a man of integrity and a man of principle. He is committed to what he is going to do and he will try his best to achieve his objective. He is a very sympathetic and also a very soft-spoken person with compassion and concern for the poor, the needy and the impoverished. He is a true son of Singapore. I wish him well and I hope Singaporeans will support all his good intentions. Merry Christmas to everyone! Majulah Singapura!!!

Sad to say, his anyhow-blame negates all your points.

asking for 100,000 signatures is like asking for $100k before he decided to "serve".

the word SERVE means to do it wholeheartedly even without anything - money, signatures or even appreciation. when TKL asked for that, his sincerity was already given a discount.

the netizens here are all very sensitive and touchy. we do not look at matters at face value and hence there are many biased interpretations when TKL asked for signatures.

if he's adamant to serve peasants even under a barrages of criticism and skepticism, he shall still go ahead with his "serving" plan.

just like NIKE said: JUST DO IT!!

I am an avid supporter of alternative parties or president. I do believe there are pappy trolls trying to tarnish the image or to discredit the belief of Mr Tan K L. I fully agree that those who has nothing to say or disagree on fetching 100,000 signatures for TLK, it is wise they keep their mouth shut for the good of Singaporean.

Otherwise, they are no different from pappy trolls and probably may just fell into the trap so that TLK chance of wanting to step out became slim.

My advice to those who feel Prata Man is not good for this country, please give a thought about it. Whether a person has sincerity or not of wanting to step up, we certainly do not wish to have another pappy-nominated candidate to plunge our reserve.

So please support TKL in anyway you could and if you feel pening down signature is a chore, than keeping quiet is also another form of support to prevent pappy taking you for a ride to bring TKL down.

Do us a favour please (especially Leetarshar)

Just like when you beat up your father you said: "JUST DO IT!!"

Just like when you stole temple money you said: "JUST DO IT!!"

Just when you seduced little boys you said: "JUST DO IT!!"

Just when you pretended to be a monk you said: "JUST DO IT!!"

Fail siah...

wow say!! just how many clones do you have?:oIo:

(1) There will always be unfair and callous criticisms, perhaps because that is all they know.
However to ask them to shut up because you feel it is unfair and callous - is by itself, an unfair statement.

What can make it fair is to detail why their statements are unjustified and callous. And just let your reasonings stand for itself.

(2) In my view, asking for 100K petitions and not saying what you want to stand for - presidency or parliamentary candidate - is to ask people to commit their money without any contract - in short, "give me a signed cheque and just trust me".
A fairly close parallel is the marginal PAP candidate who is almost assured of a home run, yet asking how much salary and benefits he will get before he decide to serve.

Singapore needs parliamentary candidates and political leaders who can look beyond self-benefiting and self-serving guarantees.
(3) In any case, if TKL decides to stand, then just go ahead and stand - 100K petitions or not - he does not need a guarantee - all he needs is not to let his 900+ staunch supporters down.
Give it a try for this elections. Observe and follow the lead of LTK and CST who do not appear to bear any political costs. For all we know, he may well succeed.

I wish him and all others (LTK, CST included), well.

Well, they wanna hantam Mr. Tan, there's not much we can do to stop it. Plus it'd be undemocratic to do so.

We have already said why Mr. Tan deserves a fair chance to prove himself, and as long as he does that, we respect his choice to run.

And as for all these political fights here? I think its better for me to stay away from this m&d-slinging. Those who are and who have been drawn into, you can go right ahead. But leave me out of this.

Its Christmas after all.

if tkl is thinking of going into politics, he'd better practise how to be hantam first. the fatal blow is not from here. it should be from the paps agency.

if he can't handle such bo liao here, wait till he faces the paps. don't forget, our pinky's notorious intimidation of fixing opposition.

I am quite neutral to TKL at this moment.

But 100,000 signatures is an uphill task, yet TKL looks too smart a man to set such an unrealistic target. Hence, I wonder if more is brewing and that the number was to throw the PAP "off track".

where are all your other clones? same pattern. so obvious already:)

Is this person an ISD impersonator trying to take over TheOnlineCitizen after ISD taking over wayang party?

People please be careful and question this person with eyes open.

if we could expose who the CLONEMASTER here and behind all those underhanded tricks, i can bet with everyone: YOU WILL BE GREATLY SURPRISED!!

Now this is odd.

When did Tan Kian Lian say he want to be president? I thought he say he would only run for "public office" only if he gets 100k signiture support?

so are you saying Tan had already made up his mind?
