Three of family killed after trailer topples and crushes car on Chandigarh-Phagwara road
Chandigarh: Three members of a family were killed in horrific road accident on Chandigarh-Phagwara road in Punjab on Tuesday. Three other persons, who were in another vehicle, also sustained injuries in the accident.
A video was shared on social media which shows a loaded trailer losing balance and collapsing on the road while trying to make a sharp turn at high speed. Two speeding cars crash into the trailer while one of them is completely crushed after the heavy vehicle falls on it.
In the crushed vehicle were a couple and their son, who died instantly. In the other, three people suffered injuries. The deceased have been identified as Gurkirpal Singh, his wife Ramanjit Kaur and their son Jasmeet Singh, residents of Cheema Khuddian village of Gurdaspur.
According to reports, the accident happened near Punjab's Behram on the main route connecting Phagwara to Chandigarh.
After receiving information, Punjab Police reached the spot and launched an investigation into the accident. As per media reports, police have registered a case against the truck driver who fled the spot under the relevant sections.
