Compare with Hong Kong, constantly subverted and harassed by Carrie Lam and her band of pro-Beijing traitors. If she had closed the Guangzhou-HK border earlier the numbers would have been even lower.

Compare with Taiwan, constantly threatened by China's military. It dodged a bullet when KMT was denied victory in the January election.
