Courts explore phone options for minor offences

Those who commit minor offences may be able to plead guilty on their smartphones or personal computers in the near future.
Chief Justice Sundaresh Menon sketched out the possibility on Friday at the Subordinate Courts workplan seminar.
He said: “We will enhance the ease with which offenders can settle their outstanding payments for minor regulatory offences both before their cases are brought to court as well as after their cases enter the court system.”
Speaking in his first keynote address at the courts' annual seminar, Chief Justice Menon highlighted key challenges in enhancing justice and announced a slew of initiatives to tackle them.
