IPOH: Police are investigating the death of a two-year-old as suspected child abuse case after the girl died while in the care of her babysitter in Parit, about 35km from here. Perak acting police chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Zakaria Yusof said a post-mortem revealed that Nur Amira Natsha Abdullah (pic) had died of severe head injuries due to blunt force trauma. “We will investigate if it is true that the toddler fell from a bicycle as claimed by her babysitter,” he said.
Grieving mother: Rosnani being consoled by her sister-in-law Rodiah Che Omar outside the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital mortuary in Ipoh yesterday.
According to Nur Amira’s aunt Rodiah Che Omar, the babysitter informed the family at about 2am on Friday that the girl died after being sent to the Changkat Melintang Hospital. “The babysitter went to Nur Amira’s grandmother, who lives nearby in Kampung Nyiur Tanjung Belanja, to inform her about the death.
“We do not know for sure where or when the child died,” said Rodiah, 42, when met at the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital mortuary here yesterday. Rodiah, who accompanied the girl’s 23-year-old mother Rosnani Abdul Rahman to the mortuary, said prior to her death, the family had found bruises on Nur Amira’s knees, which the babysitter claimed were due to a fall.
