SERDANG: Police have arrested a man believed to have robbed at least 25 petrol stations in Klang Valley.
The man in his 30's, an experienced cashier, used his knowledge to get jobs with unsuspecting owners of these petrol stations.
He would work for only a day at each petrol station, steal the daily collection and move on to his next target.
Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Razak Elias said Friday police were alerted after the man robbed three petrol stations in the district.
"Based on a tip-off we arrested the man at a petrol station in Klang on Tuesday," he told pressmen at the Serdang police headquarters on Friday.
He said investigations revealed that the man was involved in at least 25 cases in Selangor and Kuala Lumpur.
"He was active since January this year and is believed to have raked in about RM70,000.
"We learnt that the man attended interviews for a cashier's position at the petrol stations and only worked for a day," he said adding that the man would clear out the cash register as he left.
ACP Abdul Razak said police have remanded the man to facilitate investigations adding that the case has been classified under Section 381 and 408 of the Penal Code for robbery and criminal breach of trust.
