Cops bust mini drug-making lab in village

GEORGE TOWN - Police raided a village house which had been turned into a drug processing laboratory and seized several types of drugs with a street value of RM500,000 (S$203,000).
Seven people including two women, aged between 19 and 44, were arrested.
Penang deputy police chief Senior Asst Comm Datuk Abdul Rahim Jaafar said a narcotics team, acting on a tip-off, raided the house in Air Itam here at about 8.30pm last Friday and seized Ecstasy powder weighing 1,275gm, 54gm of ketamine and 22gm of syabu.
"We also confiscated tools to process Ecstasy pills and chemicals to process drugs. The village house had been turned into a mini drug processing laboratory," he told a press conference at the northeast district police headquarters yesterday.
SAC Abdul Rahim said a Toyota Unser. a Proton Saga and a Perodua Myvi worth RM130,000 were also confiscated.
He said the suspects had been remanded until Friday to facilitate investigations.
"One of the men and one of the women tested positive for drugs while another man had been arrested before for firearm possession,'' he said.
