A prisoner who is due to be released in August for the culpable homicide of a teen at Lucky Chinatown will have to spend another 30 months behind bars for two offences.

Leong Soon Kheong, 37, admitted to furnishing false information to the police by implicating Larry Lim Liang Long 32, as being involved in assaulting 18-year-old Wong Dao Jing when he was interviewed by the police at Central police station lock-up in December 2007. He also pleaded guilty to falsely admitting to the statement of facts implicating Lim as one of the accomplices involved in the assault during his High Court trial in September 2008.

Investigation showed that Leong was among five men who attacked Dao Jing for allegedly stealing a backpack belonging to one of them at the shopping mall on Feb 15, 2003. Dao Jing died later in hospital of his injuries. Four of the five fled to Malaysia while the fifth, known as 'Ka Juak', remained in Singapore.

Leong and his accomplices met Lim in Malaysia. Lim, who was wanted by the Singapore police for copyright infringement offences, agreed with the four to take the rap for 'Ka Juak' to protect he latter's true identity.
