MUAR: Police detained a contractor and seized drugs worth more than RM636,000 during a raid at an apartment in Jalan Salleh here.
Muar deputy OCPD Supt Shahadan Jaafar said the 49-year-old man was arrested with 21kg of heroin at noon on Friday.
The amount, he added, could supply over 100,000 addicts.
Packaging and weighing machines as well as some colouring powder found at the apartment have led police to believe the place was used as a packaging centre.
“The suspect is believed to have been active for six months,” he said.
Supt Shahadan said a Toyota Camry, a Honda Civic and several gold items worth over RM58,000 were also seized.
He said the man, who lived a few blocks from the apartment, had a criminal record for two drug-related cases. The suspect also tested positive for drugs.
He said police would also seize two houses owned by the contractor, who would be charged under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
“We are investigating whether there are others involved,” Supt Shahadan added.
