IPOH: Police have arrested a man who posed as a Siamese shaman and cheated numerous people to the tune of almost RM1mil.
Perak police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohd Shukri Dahlan said the 30-year-old man from Alor Star was arrested on March 27.
"Based on our investigations, the man has several bank accounts.
"He also has four luxurious cars. A Honda Accord and BMW M5 Sport have been seized and we are still tracking two others cars, a Subaru Impreza and a Nissan Skyline," he told journalists here on Tuesday.
DCP Mohd Shukri said police acted on four reports that were lodged here since March 14.
"We believe he is also involved in more cheating cases in Johor, Negri Sembilan, Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
"His modus operandi is to distribute pamphlets while posing as a shaman who predicts lottery numbers while waiting for victims to call him," he said.
"He then tells the victim to deposit money into his bank account in order to meet with the 'shaman' to get the lottery numbers," he added.
