I was lucky last GE that I had a chance to cast my vote, since NSP contested in Tampines GRC, needless to say I voted for my friend Mr. Arthero Lim  instead of Malboro Tan.

SINGAPORE : The National Solidarity Party (NSP) plans to field some 30 candidates in the next general election, to be held before February 2012.

This is an increase from the 12 candidates NSP fielded in the last elections.

At a news conference on Saturday, the opposition party hinted it is looking at contesting in the Tampines and Jalan Besar GRCs.

The party also revealed two potential candidates to contest in the upcoming elections.

A Malay Bureau was launched as well. NSP said the formation of its Malay Bureau will help achieve its aim of sending the party's first Malay candidate into Parliament, whether as an MP or Non-Constituency MP.

National Solidarity Party's secretary-general Goh Meng Seng said: "For our party, we are prepared to give priority to the Malay candidates to walk into Parliament, to raise issues not only on the Malay community, but also Singapore (issues).

"We have the trust in our Malay candidates to do so because they are not radical, they are open-minded Malay professionals."

Zulkifli Baharudin, a political observer and former Nominated Member of Parliament, said: "If indeed this is an indication of more and more Singaporeans who want to be part of the opposition, to participate in elections and to devote their lives to be the alternative to the PAP (People's Action Party), to improve the lives of the people, and to offer Singaporeans more choices in the coming elections, then I think it is a positive development.

"But if it is only because they feel that even if they lose the elections, there are more places for them to be NCMPs, then I do not think that is the right motivation in politics." - CNA/ms

This time round, my address is no longer in Tampines GRC, I think my constituency will fall somewhere into Workers Party's contested area, since it is very near Hougang.

But I am moving out of this place next month.

I will be willing to be norminator for opposition party that contest in the area that I am listed as elector under Parliamentary Election Act. I will go to the normination center to sign normination form & offer support.

My only main concern this round si about 3-corner situation. Since there are so many candidates, it is bound to happen.:(

Looking at the numbers, I foresee a chance higher than 50% that there will be MORE THAN 84 opposition candidates next GE causing 3 corner fights to be inevitable.

The reasons are simple and abundant:
1. more number of opposition parties already formed.
2. each party coming out with more candidates than last GE.
3. fear for famiLEE LEEgime is reversed very strongly, people stand up and fight.
4. new citizens may want to stand as opposition candidate.

In the maximized case there may be exceeding 100 opposition candidates.

Estimation:
NSP 30-35
WP 40-50
SDP 15-20
SPP 10-15
RP 5-10
SF 5-10
USD 5-10
PKMS (blended & teamed with other parties & in SMCs)
UJP ?
others ?
Independent candidates?
PAP defectors & break away?

others ? (NGO like James Gormes' & Think Center?)
To edit last part from above:

Independent candidates?
PAP defectors & break away?

It is easy for each newly formed opposition party to field 5-10 candidates because in even the minimum number of persons required to register a party is 10 names required by law & registrar of society.

More than 84

opposition expand huh

84 is actually a very small number because the red dot is tiny. Other countries have hundreds of seats.

It the past even whole lot of 84 could walkover. Mainly due to the fear against famiLEE LEEgime. In the past years we managed to REVERSED the fear. Every aspects of the reform and fight against LEEgime automatically followed after the REVERSAL of fear.

We should not be too afraid of 3-corner.
It is proven in Malaysia that BN even lost in 4 corners & 5 corners (by-elections).

This is natural reaction after GE2006 that number of candidates shot-up, because FEAR against LEEgime reversed since. During GE2006 already more than half of 84 seats were contested. It was during GE2006 that the reversal of fear was still in threshold state, I started to tell everyone that fear need to be reversed since 2003, then most opposition leaders were skeptical about the concept.

I would think that the fear will be more breads & butters issues for younger people to join opposition parties.
Not many Singapore employers want to hire an opposition members to work for them :o

That was mostly due to the fear.

It is being reversed among an increasing amount of Singaporeans.

It the 80s when I spoke against famiLEE LEEgime at say hawker center, the people at next table will fearfully turn their heads and then soon move to a further table. Not any more these days.

In the 90s, taxi uncles will start to criticize famiLEE LEEgime along journey, but only if they got sure that you are not an RC dog or PAp.

When I do the same these days at hawker centers strangers will join my conversation and passionately express themselves.

They are no longer afraid.

In a busy place if I wanted to gather 100 audience by giving a speech against famiLEE LEEgime, I can do it any time, within 20 mins I can attract these many audience. I have this ability since 2005, the matas recorded over 100 video tapes for these. As the mata records the crowd will still continue to build up. The mata give me warning the crowd will jeer against them. At times, the mata felt threatened, I had to calm down crowd to keep the mata safe.

Which side is fearful now?
