While breastfeeding her newborn son early last year, Mrs Ng Ai Chu felt a lump in her breast.
After a medical check-up, she was told that she had fourth stage breast cancer, which she succumbed to last Friday after a year of treatment and chemotherapy.
'She was very strong, very brave, a fighter till the end,' said her husband, Mr Johnny Ng, 39, a property developer.
Mrs Ng, 41, was the only child of former deputy prime minister and co-founder of the People's Action Party (PAP), Dr Toh Chin Chye, 89.
She left behind four children - Matthew, 12, Vanessa, 10, Shaun, six, and Daniel, one.
