Do you get the impression that the rich and powerful all over the world have been getting more and more condescending and arrogant lately?
It seems that the global economic and financial crisis has brought some of them down a peg or two, but only a peg or two mind you, and only in those countries that demand accountability from them for their company and personal failings, and demand fairness and justice in society.
Even people like Bernie Madoff and Edison Chan get on happily with their lives, albeit with a bullet proof vest on.
Unfortunately, what happens is that the frustrated and down-trodden ordinary man having been treated in this manner by the "elites", end up treating one another shabbily. In minor cases, they exhibit poor social behaviour in public, like cutting their toenails on public transport or cutting queues. In major cases, they rob or scam their fellow ordinary man, even though the poor fellow they rob or scam is probably struggling to make ends meet himself.
