Computers worth RM5mil seized
PETALING JAYA: The Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Con-sumerism Ministry has seized almost RM5mil worth of computers and computer equipment from 20 companies found to be using pirated software here this year.
The ministry’s Petaling Jaya enforcement chief Mohd Ruhani Bakar said the raids on the companies concerned were carried out following information from the public and the Business Software Alliance (BSA).
“Most of the companies caught using pirated software are engineering companies where the software used were for drawing (house plans),” he told reporters here.
He said the enforcement team also seized eight laptops, worth RM174,000, from an Australian company using pirated software in Damansara here on Nov 30. — Bernama
