SINGAPORE: A former senior section head at Singapore Technology Marine has pleaded guilty to providing false information to the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB).
Badruddin Shaik Dawood, 44, had lodged a false report with the CPIB on November 30, 2009.
He claimed that a man named 'Guna', director of Brightsun Marine, had offered to pay him S$3,000 a month.
In exchange, the accused was to give 'Guna' more contracts.
But on June 22 last year, Badruddin admitted that his statement recorded earlier at the CPIB was false.
He admitted that 'Guna' did not try to bribe him and that the conversation between them was made up.
For providing false information, Badruddin faces a fine of up to S$10,000 or a jail term of up to one year, or both.
