According to my understanding, our daily community cases are understated in the first week of July. Since we entered Phase 2, emerging cases of workplace infections are classified as FW Dorm cases, the infected are Indian/Bangladeshi workers who have resumed working. The people that these infected FW workers interacted with, includes workplace admin workers, site supervisors, etc. Rightfully, they should be classified as local community cases, because the source of infection was not from dormitories.
Next, Philippines is the second largest COVID country in ASEAN (after Indonesia). We continue to allow FIlippino workpass holders to enter Singapore which poses a high risk. It is double-standards because if a Malaysian work permit holder returns to Malaysia, they will need to reapply work permit and get certified COVID-free. Philippines embassy has also reported that there are almost 200 Filippino infected in Singapore.
Lastly, while locals are not supposed to visit friends in Phase 2, SME factory-dorm owners continue to allow their workers to freely interact with friends from other factory-dorms, including gathering outside the facilities. The cases from these factory-dorms are also not classified as community cases, although the infection was due to socializing.
