They are so nice to help clean up HK, while leaving their weapons in the barracks.

Storyful 16 November 2019

Chinese soldiers were seen clearing barricades left by protesters on the streets of Hong Kong on November 16 – the first appearance of the People’s Liberation Army since protests began earlier in the year, local media reported.

Chinese state media confirmed the appearance of the soldiers, saying they had helped to clean streets and had been thanked by local residents.

RTHK reported that Hong Kong officials said they had not invited the soldiers onto the streets. The South China Morning Post quoted a soldier saying they had initiated the action themselves. Credit: Passion Times via Storyful
